Helpers, First Stop Breakfast Bar: 5 people

Area Description: First Stop is a Free Breakfast Bar for young people aged 11 to 18, every day before school (term time). The bar provides basic breakfast and a safe place for young people on their way to school. The Bar started when we discovered that, due to their home environments, young people in Hitchin were going without breakfast and were in town before schools were open with nowhere to go. Each day around 40 young people attend the bar where they can have breakfast, play chess etc or just chill out together. The bar is run by a dedicated team, who make a real difference in the lives of young people and also develop lasting friendships amongst themselves. More...

Role Description: You would help on a morning that suits you, as part of a team with 4 other helpers. Roles vary from helping in the kitchen to interacting with the young people but everyone mucks in to set up and close down. Commitment is normally one day a week, 7:15am to 8:45am but we can be flexible about the time you arrive and leave with regards your job and other commitments. Training and support is provided for all the roles and no one is left vulnerable or out of their depth.
