Life in the Spirit led to a radical way of living in the early church. In this talk we will reflect on the ways in which the church became detached from money and possessions in order to live in the fullness of God’s love and riches.

How, and why, did they do this? They believed that this was what Jesus commanded. They’re living as if Jesus was about to come back and so didn’t want Jesus to find them with big bank balances when He returned. They saw through wealth, possessions, money, land because they recognised it’s going to decay. They had ‘right thinking’ about materialism – it’s all a facade with no eternal – value. They were consumed though – consumed with the cause of Christ. How awesome would it be if we were a consumer church – consumed with Christ and His cause?
