A Light For Syria

A Light For Syria
Syria

‘THE LIGHT SHINES IN THE DARKNESS, AND THE DARKNESS HAS NOT OVERCOME IT.’
JOHN 1:5

Since its beginning in 2011, the conflict in Syria has shattered a nation, bringing death, devastation and darkness of all kinds. But even in the darkest places, we know that God can shine the light of his love and hope.

Tearfund’s partners are working tirelessly to help Syrian refugees who have fled to Jordan and Lebanon, as well as people in desperate need within Syria itself. Tearfund asked their partners from the region to share their prayers for the people they’re serving. Please join them in their inspirational intercessions.

BRINGING LIGHT TO THE DARK PLACES

A prayer from our partner in Jordan providing preschool education and trauma care for Syrian children.

Lord Jesus, you give sight to the blind, you heal the crippled and you restore the dignity of the disenfranchised. Give us renewed vision and hope for the future and restore the dignity of our Syrian brothers and sisters.

We beg for mercy for the many children who have lost their fathers; for the many men who have been tortured, beaten and maimed; for the many women who have suffered from abuse; and for the many more who continue to live in fear and shame.

Where there is fighting and fear, please bring peace. Where there is hatred, please bring love and forgiveness. Where there is death and hopelessness, please bring the joy of your deliverance.

Lord, you are our only hope, our only Saviour.

AMEN.

SEEKING THE DAWN OF PEACE

A prayer from a Syrian pastor now living in Jordan.

Oh Lord our God, we come to you in faith, lifting our prayers to intercede for Syria and its suffering people.

Oh Lord, put an end to the fighting and guide those who seek peace and reconciliation.

Send your peace, comfort and healing to the suffering and wounded, and give security and shelter to the needy. We trust that you hear and answer our prayers.

To you be all the glory forever.

AMEN.
