September is prophetically seen as the month of delivery. This month, we trust God is saying that, as we “bring forth”, this is also a season for new beginnings. This means that the spiritual atmosphere is right for a new start. It could be a new start in your spiritual life, your health, your work, your school, your dream or your relationships. We want to trust The Lord for a fresh start – a better start – this time with God at the centre and as the leading companion.
Proverb 18:3 says “Commit your works unto The Lord, and your thoughts shall be established”. During this month, we commit to putting our priorities right. To seek His face, His counsel and His instructions in line with our goals and aspirations. We want to do this, leaning on The Lord through the study of his word, through fasting and through prayer. Just as Matthew 6:33 says to “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you”.
In the process, in spite of the difficulties that might come our way, we can be confident in the fact that He stands by us and will make sure that everything will work out. Here is what he tells each and everyone of us: “Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me.” (John 14:1) “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Realise all that God has in store for you and make up your mind to set apart special times to meet with your creator and your Lord. Fret not the evil that might come but believe the good that will come, because God has your destiny in his hands. According to Psalms 91:7-12 “A thousand will fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. Only with your eyes you will behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation; There shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, unless you dash your foot against a stone.”
Let’s learn to walk through the unknown and the fears of life, keeping hope alive. As Vincent McNabb said, “hope is some extraordinary spiritual grace that God gives us to control our fears, not to oust them”. Have in mind Christopher Reeve’s quote on hope against all odds: “once you chose hope, anything is possible”. And let us trust that this journey will be alright because The Lord will lead us to our destination and he will give us a reasons to celebrate and be thankful.
Keep on believing…
