Seeing God

Q: In Exodus 33:20, God does not permit Moses to see His face. He shields Moses's eyes as he walks past. Why would a loving, graceful God not allow His face to be seen? In Heaven, will we 'see' God?

A: Hi, this is an interesting question! The main reason why God could not allow Moses to 'see Him' - is because of His glory - if Moses had seen God then He probably would have died! We often pray for 'God's Glory', but the fact is like Solomon found out when dedicating the Temple (1Kings 8:10-11), and John in Revelation (Revelation 1:17), we cannot stand before a Holy God because we still are affected by wrong doing in our lives - however long we have been Christians!

Paul spoke of this when he called himself a "wretched man because I still do wrong!" However when we see Him on His return, the Bible says we will be like Him - sinless, spotless (1 Corinthians 15:50-57) - then we shall be able to see Him face to face. The main point here is 'are we ready to see Him'? Have we accepted Jesus as our only way to God? If we have and are living lives which are pleasing to Him, then we will be! Hope that helps?
