My visit to Cosnita
Had a great day out today although it was a long and tiring journey and very very hot, it was a fab experience. I drove to Cosnita which is North East of Chisinau the main city of Moldova. I was visiting a day centre for the elderly which has been set up (built from scratch) by a charity from Ireland called Moldova Vision.
I met the director Galina and we shared our passions for the poor people in this country and discussed ways that they were helping them and how that could work for Gift of Love foundation.
I was shown around the centre which is beautiful, many rooms, very cool and they have toilets and wash basins. One for males and one for females.
They hold daily craft sessions together with a feeding programme both at the centre and delivered to the homes of the poor and infirm. Galina told me that they were planning to attract young people to the centre too with a view of seeding in them the need to provide for the elderly and maybe getting the teenagers to volunteer to visit the house bound and to deliver their food.
There will also be an activities programme established for the young people from 7yrs through to 18yrs.
I thought that this was a great idea and something we could think about for Risipeni.
As I left the centre i felt strongly that this was the beginning of something and that I would be seeing Galina again. I've invited her to the opening of the Gift of Love centre in Risipeni which we hope will happen at the beginning of October.
The work on the centre here will begin next week!
