I think you mentioned that married couples were not in the will of God if they decide not to have children...

Q: I had to leave the service yesterday so did not hear the whole of your sermon. I think you mentioned that married couples were not in the will of God if they decide not to have children. Could you tell me where it says that in the bible? Thanks a lot. I'm looking forward to hearing the sermon when its on the website.

A: Hi, thanks for your question. I must admit that when I read your question and comment, my immediate reaction was "I don't remember saying that!" So, I had to wait until the recording was placed on the website before establishing that!

I then discovered you were right - I did say it, however, (no excuse) it was said tongue in cheek. The comment came from God's command to the first married couple to "be fruitful and multiply." Now remember they were sinless at that time, childbirth was going to be easy! (It was only after sin of disobedience by both of them that God said that childbirth would be painful - Genesis 3:16) There would be no problems in conceiving a child - it was a sinless, free from germs and sickness, perfect environment. Also no television or distractions! Of, course our world is completely different - full of increasing problems in conceiving and childbirth, as well as the massive task of raising our children.

So, my comment was out of order, and for that I apologise unreservedly.I hope it did not cause you any pain, and would be very happy to follow this up with any needs you may have in prayer and ministry. I hope you accept that, and will certainly be more careful with my comments in the future!

    Blessings,
    Tony
