Does baptism matter?
Q: Does it matter if you have been baptised or not?
A: Hi, and the simple answer to "does it matter?" is "yes"! Mainly because Jesus was baptised, the disciples baptised. Peter placed it as a key part of following and being obedient to God - "Repent and be BAPTISED and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!"(Acts 2:38)
The most impacting of the New Testament leaders and writers, Apostle Paul, spoke about it as "Being buried with Him in Baptism, and being raised with Him in Newness of life!" (Romans 6:1-5)
1. It's an outward declaration that you are a Christian, a follower of Jesus.
2. It's obeying a command by God.
3. It's declaring that you are part of The Christian family (the Church).
4. It's showing that you are serious about your faith - i.e. you have 'died' to your old life, and you have risen (started afresh) to a new life following Jesus.
Hope that helps - if not come back to me!
Tony.
